#1 SIBALOM NATURAL PARK (Sibalom)

 

     It harbors many unique species of plants and animals some of which are on the brink of extinction, locally and globally. 59 species of birds identified in Sibalom, half are dependent on the forest for their survival, and eight cannot be seen outside the Philippines like the Walden's Hornbill, Sayan Hornbill, White-winged Cuckoo-shrike, and Negros Bleeding-heart. Among the four mammals initially identified in the area are the Visayan spotted deer and the Visayan warty pig, both endangered and found only in the western Visayas. The Philippine dipterocarp trees such as white lauan and apitong, and fruit trees such as antipolo and malapaho are found in the forests of Sibalom. The globally endangered giant flower, the Rafflesia, also blooms in the park.

#2 MALUMPATI COLD SPRING RESORT (Pandan)

 

     It is Located in the sitio of Malumpati in the barangay of Guia in the town of Pandan in the province of Antique, Island of Panay in the Visayas Region of the Philippine Archipelago.Malumpati Cold Spring Resort is a natural swimming pool with cool and clear water from the different natural springs of the river. It is also known as Malumpati Health Spring and Tourist Resort. It is believed to have medicinal properties for healing.Malumpati had a lot of people when we went there but we still enjoyed the cool and fresh water of the spring. It was indeed very refreshing.

#3 NOGAS ISLAND (Nogas)

 

     A 24-hectare government naval reservation island 3 miles from the shoreline of Anini-y town proper; 20 minutes by sailboat or motorboat; ideal for shell hunting, snorkeling and scuba diving.

#4 SIRA-AN HOT SPRING

 

     A government-owned hot sulphur spring atop solid rock; warm water flowing from crevices and collects in tiled basins into a junior size, swimming pool; is along the highway 1 1/2 kilometers from Anini-y town proper and overlooks Nogas Island.

#5 CRESTA DE GALLO (Anini-y) 

 

     It is called Punta Nasog by natives; denuded mountain of solid rock shaped like a rooster's crown believed rich in mineral deposit. One can take a jeepney from San Jose to Anini-y to reach the site. Some hiking may be necessary.

#6 TAGUIMTIM

 

     2 kms. south of Tobias Fornier. Best for picnics and swimming.

#7 PULA WATERFALLS  (San Remigio)

 

     Red-tinted water cascades. 2 kms. away from poblacion of San Remegio. The exceptional Pula Waterfalls is located two kilometers from the town of San Remigio in the Province of Antique. The name Pula (or red) Waterfalls is derived from the red-tinged waters of the waterfall. It is fast becoming a popular natural attraction in the region. Perfect for photography and swimming.

#8 BATO CUEVA (San Remegio )

 

     Where one can see San Jose and Sibalom towns; on clear weather, mount Madia-as in Culasi can also be seen. Bato Cueva sits on the hilltop where a nearby forest nursery is located. Municipalities of San Jose and Sibalom are visible while atop the hill. On a good weather, theMadia-as mountain of Culasi is a majestic view. San Jose de Buenavista(the capital town) is accessible via passenger plane, Asian Spirit, three times a week from Manila, and from the major cities of the country through Iloilo City. From Iloilo, it's a two-hour ride by bus or van. If you are coming from Boracay Island, the province can be reached through RORO buses from Boracay terminal in Malay, Aklan and regular buses plying Nabas, Aklan to the northern part of the province down to the capital town of San Jose de Buenavista.

#9 DANAO LAKE (San Remigio)

 

     Located in the high mountains of San Remegio; ideal for hunting.

#10 BATABAT CORAL REEF (Barbaza)

 

     Batabat Coral Reef is one kilometer offshore, or a 20-minute pump boat ride. The beautiful composition of corals, fishes, and other marine life are among the best in the county.The natural attraction is perfect for divers, photographers, and the usual nature tripper. San Jose de Buenavista(the capital town) is accessible via passenger plane, Asian Spirit, three times a week from Manila, and from the major cities of the country through Iloilo City. From Iloilo, it's a two-hour ride by bus or van. #11 CADIAO RESORT  ()

 

     This resort is noted for its Baguio-like temperature, if not cooler during summer. Lolita falls is on the hillside. A thousand-step stairway uphill is proven to test the endurance of fun seekers and amateur mountaineers.

#12 MACALBAG WATERFALLS (Barbaza)

 

     A waterfall 50 ft. high, 8 kms. from poblacion Barbaza; several caves, some still unexplored. The Macalbag Waterfalls is different from other falls because there are also caves within the vicinity; some are still unexplored, while one cave is believed to have seven rooms. When visitors get there, they well be welcomed by the raging water coming from the waterfall. They may also want to take a glance at the caves around the area.

#13 MT. MADIA-AS (Culasi)

 

     2,117 m.above sea level; beautiful mountain scenery, different species of flora and fauna, rare orchids, wild deer and boar, a lagoon and rain forest. adjaas means 'mataas' in some local dialect, but in English it can suitably described as 'lofty' instead of just tall. This loftiness will definitely be felt in the summit which opens up to the view of Western Panay island and the surrounding seas, but it extends to the mossy forests of the mountain, in which several unique flora and found have been identified. Access is still limited and Madjaas is currently a relative-unexplored peak, but as we get more information we expect that Madjaas' rightful place will be restored.

#14 MARARISON ISLAND (Culasi)

 

     4 kms. off the coast of Culasi; 15 minutes by pumpboat; long stretch of white sand beach; ideal for beachcombing and spear fishing; presence of "pitcher plant" noted

#15 HATAY-HATAY BEACH RESORT (Barbaza)

     

     5 kms. from the poblacion; abundant spring water.

#16 BATBATAN ISLAND  (Culasi)

 

     8 kms. from Mararison Island; a mound of soft greenery, an attraction to scuba divers; has natural coves, anchorages and white sand beaches. Home of the ethnic people called Tangays, this island harbors a rich biodiversity underwater (with its coral reefs and exotic tropical animals), above ground (with colorful endemic wild birds and a colony of flying foxes and monkeys), and underground (inside its caves), and everything in between (the coral cliffs that submerge in clear sea water and the creatures that live there). Natural coves, white sand beaches, a shifting sand bar for relaxation; whale shark watching, hiking, mountain climbing, and kite boarding for adventure; the rituals, the legends- the culture. The old watch tower, the ruins and the legends that persisted to exist throughout ages.

#17 BUGTONG BATO WATERFALLS (Tibiao)

 

     6 kms. to Sitio Moleta accessible by motor vehicle up to Bgy. Tuno and a short hike along murmuring streams and hidden rice terraces. Ideal for excursions/picnics with excellent opportunities for bathing, swimming and picture taking. First three waterfalls with height up to 150 ft. are accessible.

#18 TIBIAO RIVER (Tibiao)

 

     4 kms. from the poblacion considered ideal for white water kayaking by the Boracay based Tribal Adventure Group. Tibiao is a blessing for thrill seekers and nature lovers since it is just a few hours away from travel gateways such as Iloilo, Boracay (Caticlan), and Kalibo. Tibiao offers attractions found in other popular eco-adventure destinations in addition to the town’s unique set of charms that is sure to give tourists a fun experience to cherish for a lifetime. It is one of the best white water rivers in the country perfect for kayaking. In fact, it hosted the first “International Kayaking Cup,” which was initiated by Tibal Adventures, Inc. in 1997.

#19 KIPOT FALLS (Culasi)

 

     7-basin falls, 3 kms. northeast of town proper.

#20 MARBLE MOUNTAIN (Pandan)

 

     Marble deposit has different colors such as gold, gray, black, pink, light gray, white, red, blue, and combinations of those colors, and expected to last a thousand years. O ne can take a jeepney either from San Jose, Antique or from Kalibo or Caticlan in Aklan to reach the municipality of Pandan.

#21 BUGTONG BUKID (Sebaste)

 

     500 meters from the national highway; has a bamboo and a nipa resthouse. A hill with a resthouse on top and 36-m high Kalamasag Falls, one of the most beautiful in Panay.

#23 KANIANG RESORT (Libertad)

 

     Has seven water basins; seven kms. from town proper.

#22 IGPASUNGAW FALLS (Sebaste)

 

     3 kms. from the national highway; a 30-minute walk up hills; a natural swimming pool.

#24 CAMP AUTAJAY (San Jose)

 

     It is also called Pina beach; 10-hectare lot ideal for camping, live-in seminars or conferences. A 10-hectare lot located along the beach, with an orchard, an array and mahogany trees, nipa sheds, benches and cottages. The place is ideal for camping, live-in seminars or conferences where one can go swimming, or set bonfires.
