SAN JOSE, Antique(PIA6) - - The men and women of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) are always ready for fire emergencies.

Fire Officer Simplicio Chicano, Acting Fire Marshall of San Jose Fire Station said the 34 personnel of Antique BFP headed by SInsp Romeo C. Gigato, Jr. are well trained and ready for fire call and other emergencies.

Antique has seven fire stations located in Pandan, Culasi, Laua-an, Valderrama, Bugasong, Sibalom and San Jose. The fire stations are strategically located to cater to fire calls in neighboring towns.

Take the case of San Jose Fire Station that responds to fire calls in Anini-y, Tobias Fornier and Hamtic while Pandan station also caters to the towns of Libertad and Sebaste.

The fire trucks are loaded with water and have sufficient logistics to respond immediately to fire calls, said Chicano. Each station has at least one fire truck except for the town of San Jose and Sibalom which have two.

There are local government units that also own a fire truck like that of Tibiao, Patnongon, Tobias Fornier, Belison and San Jose. Some Municipal Mayors have signified their intention to turn over the units to BFP.

Chicano said when an LGU turns over a fire truck, the BFP can provide at least two fire officers to manage the unit like the case of the town of Laua-an wherein their unit was turned over to BFP and they were provided with fire officers. It’s a big augmentation force in the province, he said. A private individual also owns a fire truck in Sibalom, ready to augment BFP when needed.

With the all-out support of local officials, private groups and community people, Chicano assured that the BFP will continue to carry on effectively its task in fire prevention. In case of fire, the public can call the BFP hotline 09153248833 and (036) 540-7175. (MLG/PSM/JSC-PIA6 Antique)
